Social Skills Disorder – How to Maintain Relationships With Asperger’s Disorder

Social Skills Disorder

The failure to develop friendships is often the deciding factor in parents seeking an evaluation. The AD child cannot keep in good shape friendships, partially due to his rigid insistence of rules and his inflexibility in play. He is strictly bound to the rules and could not forgive cheating by his peers. Social Skills Disorder

He tattles on his classmates and is oblivious to the social code of not snitching on your peers. His poor motor skills attain him low on the list of playmates for games. His need for sameness may become more apparent and his special interests become more developed. As he becomes more knowledgeable about his special interest, his monologues become longer and he is not able to own reciprocal conversations. Social Skills Disorder

His advanced vocabulary and knowledge stay to impress adults but alienates peers who do not can make out him. While others their age are making deeper friendships that involve trust, secrets, and common interests, teens with Asperger’s Disorder, remains socially isolated. The social patterns he displayed in elementary school years continue, and his peers are even less willing to tolerate him. As cliques form at school, the AD adolescent is excluded. Lacking common social sense, the teen with Asperger’s Disorder, is at risk of being the brunt of pranks or egged on to act out inappropriate behaviors. Social Skills Disorder

He is also a prime candidate for public taunting and ridicule.Fashion, fads, and trends are often ignored by the teen with Asperger’s Disorder, as he pursues his unique special interest. Wanting to have friends, the AD teen is at risk for depression as he becomes increasingly aware with each passing year that he lacks the ability to change his social life. If he can find a peer who shares a similar interest, his middle school years will be far better than the child who is without a friend. Even if the friendship is based primarily on pursuing talk and activities related to their special interest, it can be a significant deterrent to depression. Social Skills Disorder

The ability to interact, get along, and develop and maintain relationships is a powerful predictor of current as well as later psychological adjustment. Young children with poor social skills are unhappy, are alienated from their peers, have poor achievement levels, and have low self-esteem. Peer rejection in adolescence is even more destructive with increased school failure, absenteeism, dropping out, and delinquency. Social Skills Disorder

In adulthood, our social skills play a large role in the type of work we are able to find and whether or not we can maintain it. It determines whether or not we will have friends and romantic partners, and ever marry and raise a family. Friendships are viewed by most people as a very important part of life. Through friendships, we experience feelings of being liked, valued, admired, cared about, trusted, and loved. With this come feelings of positive self-worth, a sense of belonging, and feelings of worthiness. Don’t let your love ones suffer anymore! Lead them out through Social Skills Disorder program now!

Social Behavior and Skills in Children

Social Behavior and Skills in Children

$68.46

That children are capable of pathology-not only such conditions as ADHD and learning disabilities, but also such "adult" disorders as anxiety and depression-stands as a defining moment in psychology’s recent history. Within this recognition is the understanding that the social skills deficits that accompany these disorders must be targeted for assessment and treatment to ensure optimal functioning in school, with peers, and in later transitions to puberty and adulthood. Social Behavior and Skills in Children cuts across disciplinary lines to clarify the scope of assessment options and interventions for a wide range of disorders. A panel of leading scholars reviews current research, discusses social deficits unique to specific disorders, and identifies evidence-based best practices in one authoritative, approachable reference. This volume: Discusses theoretical models of social skills as they relate to assessment and treatment. Analyzes the etiology of social behavior problems in children and the relation between these problems and psychopathology. Reviews 48 norm-referenced measures of social skills in children. Examines the range of evidence-based social skills interventions. Addresses challenging behaviors, such as aggression and self-injury. Focuses on specific conditions, including developmental disabilities, conduct disorders, ADHD, chronic medical illness, depression, anxiety, and severe psychopathology. Social Behavior and Skills in Children is an essential reference for university libraries as well as a must-have volume for researchers, graduate students, and clinicians in child, and school psychology, special education, and other related fields.
