Social Skills Classes

Orange County Social Skills Classes Help Children

Valuable Orange County Social Skills Classes offered in a nurturing summer camp setting are helping children with behavioral disorders understand and reap the benefits of improved interpersonal interactions. While many of these children, by appearances seem to be just like other children, their inner worlds are vastly different. For those diagnosed with attention deficit, hyper activity disorder, Asperger’s, or anxiety conditions, interpersonal interactions can be disappointing, frustrating and even terrifying. However, by learning to better understand their conditions and interpret verbal and nonverbal cues from others, these children can learn to navigate interpersonal relationships. Orange County ADHD Therapy summer camp enables this.

Think for a moment about the number of people you interact with each day. As interdependent creatures, it is extremely difficult to thrive in our society without being able to manage simple and complex relationships with others. It is this ability that children with behavioral needs often struggle with. In order for these children to experience more happiness and success in life, they must gain the interpersonal tools allowing for acceptable and successful peer and community interactions.

These tools can be acquired through the Social Skills Training offered at these special camps. Children ranging in age from 6 to 18 can attend camp activities carefully lead and overseen by clinically trained staff members. These staff members have been helping children for years, and are more than simply soccer coaches, singing directors or arts and crafts leaders. They each have extensive training in Orange County ADHD Therapy and may also hold degrees and certifications in behavioral and occupational therapeutics.

Using their careful observations of each child and their expert knowledge of ADHD Treatment, Orange County camp staff create a specific plan for each individual child, designed to help them understand and target their behavioral challenges. As children continue to participate in the camp activities they have the opportunity to implement the elements of their behavioral plans and begin improving their interpersonal abilities.

By participating in this ADHD Treatment, Orange County children come to better understand how to interact with peers their age as they control their own emotions and watch for opportunities to build relationships. Through the guidance of camp activities and counselors, they work to develop empathy, trust others, notice how their behavior affects others, have quality conversations and express their feelings and frustrations in healthy and acceptable ways.

Another important aspect of the Orange County ADHD Therapy offered at these special camps comes in educating children and their families about environmental factors that might aggravate their conditions. Often these environmental factors can be altered, making behavior management easier for the child. For example, diet has a great effect on children diagnosed with attention deficit hyper activity disorder. Foods high in sugar and fats can aggravate their symptoms. Summer camp is a candy and soda free zone. Instead, a certified nutritionist helps children identify and choose healthy snacks that promote better behavior.

Orange County families are quick to confirm the effectiveness of this approach. Many report that their children return from camp more confident and qualified to manage their condition. Evidence of their newly acquired interpersonal abilities manifests in their improved experiences at school, home and other community groups.

By attending this type of ADHD Treatment, Orange County children begin to experience more interpersonal success, and this makes their self-confidence grow. Now enabled to create deeper, more meaningful friendships, these children can begin to thrive in their peer groups. Able to understand and commit to expected classroom behavior, they can find more success and academic appreciation at school. And the ability to feel more empathy and practice learned conflict resolution techniques allows them to feel more integrated and accepted in their homes. All of these abilities are results of their camp Social Skills Training. Orange County families simply cannot afford to miss out on such opportunities.

Social Classes of Tibet

Social Classes of Tibet

$66.91

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Prior to 1959, there were three main social groups in Tibet: ordinary laypeople (mi ser in Tibetan), lay nobility (sger pa), and monks. The ordinary layperson could be further classified as a peasant farmer (shingpa) or nomadic pastoralist (trokpa). The Tsang (17th century) and Dalai Lama (Ganden Podrang) law codes distinguished three social divisions: high, medium and low, each in turn was divided into three classes, to give nine classes in all. Social status was a formal classification, mostly hereditary and had legal consequences: for example the compensation to be paid for the killing of a member of these classes varied from 5 (for the lowest) to 200 sung for the second highest, the members of the noble families. Nobles, government officials and monks of pure conduct were in the high division, only probably the Dalai Lama was in the very highest class. The middle division contained a large portion of the population and ranged from minor government officials, to taxpayer and landholding peasants, to landless peasants. Excerpt: The attack on Chaves, Portugal, which occurred on July 8, 1912, was a military action performed by supporters of the monarchy of Portugal in opposition to the Portuguese First Republic, which had been proclaimed two years prior. The attack was led by Henrique Paiva Couceiro, who had campaigned in Africa and who had become the leader of the royalists. The royalists had been discreetly armed by the Spanish king, Alfonso XIII, and had concentrated their forces in Galicia. The attack ended with a defeat for the royalist forces. Couceiro had undertaken a first incursion in 1911 with about 1,000 men, who had formed in groups of 60-70 men. They had left the town of Verín, 12 kilometers from the northern border with Spain, and had marched towards the border. Most of the men were from the region of Trás-os-Montes and were from a diverse array of social classes and skills. There were more than 100 priests in the group. In terms of military equipment, there were only 400 ancient rifles, a few Winchester rifles, and Mauser Pocket Pistols adapted to rifles, to which were added a score of automatic pistols, daggers, and swords. The 1,000 men had crossed the border after a long march in the mountainous region between Bragança and Vinhais, near the present-day Montesinhos National Park. The republican garrison in Bragança had waited for an attack that never came. This is because the royalists had changed their plans and now marched on Vinhais, which had a smaller garrison of men -only eighty infantry, cavalry and border guards. These forces from Vinhais had left the small town and had concentrated on a hill nearby. Negotiations were begun but the military commander of Vinhais refused to join or to surrender. He gave Paiva Couceiro two hours to abandon Portug…

“Traditional approaches to vocational rehabilitation, such as skills training classes, job clubs, and sheltered employment, have not been successful in helping people with severe mental illness gain competitive employment. Supported employment, in which clients are placed in jobs and then trained by on-site coaches, is a radically new conceptual approach to to vocational rehabilitation designed for people with developmental disabilities. The Individual Placement and Support (IPS) method utilizes the supported employment concept, but modifies it for use with the severely mentally ill. It is the only approach that has a strong empirical research base: rates of competitive employment are 40% or more in IPS programs, compared to 15% in traditional mental health programs. The third volume in the Innovations in Practice and Service Delivery with Vulnerable Populations series, this will be extremely useful to students in psychiatric rehabilitation programs and social work classes dealing with the severely mentally ill, as well as to practitioners in the field.”

Acting, Learning and Change: Creating Original Plays with Adolescents

Acting, Learning and Change: Creating Original Plays with Adolescents

$31.15

When adolescents create and act in their own plays, something more than a production and performance results. As Jan Mandell and Jennifer Wolf attest, the power of the arts in learning can lead to a real passion for justice and the courage to question. For teachers, it can mean new ways of thinking about the gifts and talents of their students as learners and explicators of their own skills and knowledge. This book documents what happened when Wolf traveled to Minnesota to observe and participate in Mandell’s drama classes. Quickly, both began to dive into research to question more intensely what occurs in the classroom, document the social nature of student learning, and study teacher change and conditions of professional development. Their focus is on how the accumulation and adaptation of knowledge takes place as students and teachers act together in their learning. Mandell and Wolf offer a highly practical model of teacher research as well as a detailed method of performing arts education. They include in every chapter academic essays, classroom activities, theatre exercises, and interviews with students. They supply more support in the appendixes-an annotated bibliography, sample lesson plans, coaching statements, research guidelines, and more.

Adolescence and Youth in Early Modern England

Adolescence and Youth in Early Modern England

$60.09

In preindustrial England, few people could expect to live past the age of forty, so adolescence and youth represented a significant proportion of an individual’s life. This book by Ilana Krausman Ben-Amos is the first to explore in depth the transition from childhood to adulthood during this period, describing the maturation processes of young people from the middle and lower classes who spent their youth as apprentices, domestic servants, or agricultural servants and labourers. Previous historians of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries have assumed either that childhood was brief and there was no adolescence, or that childhood was prolonged and adolescence was maintained well into the mid-twenties. Ben-Amos argues instead that while the maturation process was prolonged in some cases, it was short and intense in others, and that variations were due to complex mental, social and economic causes. Paying close attention to differences introduced by gender and social and geographical contexts, Ben-Amos focuses on numerous aspects of youths’ lives as they related to maturation. These include the separation of adolescents from their parents, their working lives, the acquisition of new skills, social relationships, religious attitudes, sexual mores and norms, and leisure activities. Drawing on urban and court records, as well as on contemporary autobiographies, Ben-Amos vividly recreates the experience of growing up in early modern England.
