Flying Fear by Brian Moore
Are you gripped with fear at the very sight of an aircraft?
This fear can cause a level of anxiety so great that it can prevent a person from travelling by air. Sometimes when a person is compelled to travel by air it can cause great distress. The manifestations can be sweaty palms, shortness in breath, dry mouth. More severe symptoms are panic attacks and vomiting. This all makes travelling by air a terrible ordeal, when it should be a very enjoyable experince.
For some people the fear can stem from claustrophobia or acrophobia. However, for most people turbulance is their greatest fear. No matter how much you tell yourself areoplanes are safe, (which they are) the irrational side of you keeps you gripped in fear.
Normally, when people with aerophobia take a flight they have a tendency to use diversions. This may be watching a DVD or listening to some music on their mp3. These tactics do work but only up to a point. The realiseation that they are in the air or at the first hint of turbulance their anxiety returns, causing them misery for the remainder of the flight.
This fear does not originate from any logic or rationality,it comes from deep within a persons mind. Thoughts such as: how can something so heavy stay in the air or this just does not seem natural, maybe it’s because they have no control over the situation they are in that helps to keep their stress levels high.
Don’t let the fear beat you.
The benefits of air travel are wonderful. Air travel allows you to get to anywhere in the world in a short space of time; be it for business, holidays or maybe to visit loved ones who live on the other side of the world. So overcoming this fear is of significant importance.
Many people have overcome their fear of flying by learning to fly or skydive, and effectively removing their fear. The majority of people are probably looking for a simpler solution.
According to experts, the most effective way of dealing with this phobia is hypnosis.
One of the best methods to use would be deep relaxation and hypnotherapy.Stop your unconscious mind interpeting the inside of an aircraft as a highly threating place. How would you like to overcome the fear of flying and relax on planes just like those around you?
There are wonderful audio sessions that will help you do just that.

When Panic Attacks … $14.99 “Jesus, The Way Out addresses the issue of panic attacks on a very personal level. Using relevant portions of Scripture and dictionary definitions to provide a clearer understanding of the message being conveyed, the author offers hope as well as answers based on her own struggles and victories. Jesus, The Way Out gives the reader a personal view of the author’s experiences with panic attacks leading up to her miraculous inner healing by the Holy Spirit. This book will help you understand what God has in store for you as a Christian: a life free from Anxiety, Panic, and Fear. You will also understand the basis of Christianity, which many of us do not take to heart. We put unrealistic expectations on ourselves: “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14: 12). God’s way is just the opposite. Lilli Carter was raised a Catholic. She suffered with panic attacks for twelve years, and she also struggled with a poor self-image and depression before finding her WAY OUT – through Jesus. She has been married forty-one years; she and her husband live in Orange County, CA and have two grown children. Lilli now enjoys the grace and mercy that God had intended for her from the beginning of her walk as a Christian. When she placed her confidence in God, she learned that obedience, along with the knowledge of God’s Word, does indeed bring a valuable reward.” |

Ambulance Girl $13.95 Five years ago Jane Stern was a walking encyclopedia of panic attacks, depression, and hypochondria. Her marriage of more than thirty years was suffering, and she was virtually immobilized by fear and anxiety. As the daughter of parents who both died before she was thirty, Stern was terrified of illness and death, and despite the fact that her acclaimed career as a food and travel writer required her to spend a great deal of time on airplanes, she suffered from a persistent fear of flying and severe claustrophobia. But a strange thing happened one day on a plane that was grounded at the Minneapolis airport for six horrible, foodless, airless hours. A young man on a trip with his classmates suddenly became dizzy and pale because he hadn’t eaten in many hours, and there was no food left on the plane. Without thinking about it, Jane gave him the candy bar that she had in her purse. A short time later the color had returned to his cheeks, the boy was laughing again with his friends, and Jane realized that this one small act of kindness–helping another person who was suffering–had provided her with comfort and a sense of well-being. It was shortly thereafter that this fifty-two-year-old writer decided to become an emergency medical technician, eventually coming to be known as Ambulance Girl. Stern tells her story with great humor and poignancy, creating a wonderful portrait of a middle-aged, Woody Allen-ish woman who was deeply and neurotically terrified of sick and dead people, but who went out into the world to save other people’s lives as a way of saving her own. Her story begins with the boot camp of EMT training: 140 hours at the hands of a dour ex-marine who took delight inpresenting a veritable parade of amputations, hideous deformities, and gross disasters. Jane–overweight and badly out of shape–had to surmount physical challenges like carrying a 250-pound man seated in a chair down a dark flight of stairs. After class she did rounds in the emergency ro |

Practical Psychoanalysis for Therapists and Patients $24 A clear and readable manual for results-oriented psychoanalysis. In this essential new book, Owen Renik describes how clinical psychoanalysis can focus on symptom relief and deliver results efficiently. With a humane, direct, and engaging voice, he takes up how to begin treatment, how to end it, and how to deal with the in-between. He offers chapters on the therapy of panic attacks and depersonalization, on how to get out of an impasse, on the relation between sexual desire and power in the analytic relationship, on patients who seem to want to sabotage their treatments, on flying blind as an analyst, and on a number of other intriguing, important practical topics. Renik’s down-to-earth presentation and discussion of clinical anecdotes, combined with useful recommendations for both analyst and patient, amounts to a clear and readable how-to manual. The book is intended for all mental health caregivers, patients and potential patients, and for anyone who is curious about what makes for effective, helpful psychotherapy. |
